The House of a Hundred Windows

A hundred windows. One green bird. A whole house to search.

Mira is new to the Periwinkle, the tallest, bluest, most crooked house on Linden Street. When her budgie Pistachio slips free and vanishes inside, she follows a trail of copied words from floor to floor, and with every door she knocks on, one more neighbor joins the search.

The idea behind the book

Noticing small things can be a superpower.

Moving home is one of the biggest changes in a child’s life: new rooms, new sounds, and a whole building full of strangers. Mira is quiet, and in the noise of moving day her voice comes out very small.

In this book the search is the story. Children follow Pistachio through crowded, detailed rooms and spot the clues before Mira does. Floor by floor, the strangers become neighbors, and Mira finds the courage to be heard.
