What happens to your personal data when you visit this website, and why. In short: no cookies, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising.
1. Who is responsible

2. Hosting and server logs
This website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA, which also protects it against attacks. When you open a page, your browser automatically sends technical data: your IP address, the date and time, the page you asked for, the page you came from, and your browser and operating system.
Cloudflare needs this data to deliver the website and keep it secure. We do not use it to find out who you are and do not combine it with other data. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in a secure, working website. Cloudflare processes the data on our behalf under a data processing agreement. Data may be transferred to the USA; Cloudflare is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR).
3. Email
If you write to us, we use your email address and your message only to answer you and to handle your request. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR when your message is about an order or a contract, otherwise Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, our interest in answering. We delete your messages when they are no longer needed, unless the law requires us to keep them (for example tax records).
4. No cookies: what is saved in your browser
We do not use cookies. If you pick a country in the store picker, the website saves that choice in your browser’s local storage (under “gladnest-country”) so it remembers it next time. It stays on your device, is never sent to us, and you can delete it at any time in your browser settings.
This is strictly necessary for a function you asked for (§ 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG). Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.
5. Fonts, images and games
All fonts, images and scripts load from our own website. Your browser does not connect to Google Fonts or any other outside service. Our games run entirely in your browser: no sign-up, nothing saved, nothing sent to us.
6. Links to Amazon and Instagram
Our books are sold on Amazon, and we link to Amazon and to our Instagram profile. These are plain links: nothing is sent to Amazon or Instagram until you click one. After that, their own privacy policies apply.
7. Our Instagram profile
We have an Instagram profile (https://www.instagram.com/gladneststudio/). When you visit it, Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, Merrion Road, Dublin 4, Ireland, processes your data under its own responsibility; see the Instagram privacy policy. Data may also be transferred to Meta Platforms, Inc. in the USA, which is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
Instagram shows us anonymous statistics about visits to our profile (“Insights”). For these, we and Meta are joint controllers (Art. 26 GDPR). Meta has agreed to take on the main responsibility for them, including answering requests about your rights. If you comment on our posts or message us, we use that only to reply. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, our interest in showing our books and talking with readers.
8. Children
Our books and games are for children, but this website is for the grown-ups who read with them. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
9. Your rights
You have the right to:
- find out what data we hold about you (Art. 15 GDPR)
- have wrong data corrected (Art. 16) and data deleted (Art. 17)
- have processing restricted (Art. 18) and receive your data in a common format (Art. 20)
- object at any time, for reasons relating to your situation, to processing based on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (Art. 21)
- complain to a data protection supervisory authority, for example in the EU country where you live (Art. 77)
To use your rights, just write to info@gladneststudio.com. You do not have to give us any personal data to use this website. We do not make automated decisions about you or build profiles.
